About Us
AKSHIA is an acronym which stands for the Akwa Ibom State Health Insurance Agency. AKSHIA came into existence in 2021. A law was passed which established a mandatory health insurance scheme which was amended in January 2017 through an Executive bill sent to the Akwa Ibom State House Of Assembly which received accelerated hearing and passage as Akwa Ibom State Law No 2,2017; the Akwa Ibom State Health Insurance Scheme, which will employ a single pool at the state level and provide coverage to all residents of the state

Process of Our
ENrollment
Step 1
Community Identification and Listing of the poor, aged, vulnerable (orphans, children under 5 years & women of child bearing age; 18 – 49 years), and people living with disabilities (PWDs) are done by the Ward Development Committee (WDC) Chairman and Social Mobilization Officer (SMO) of the selected Local Government Area (LGA).
Step 2
Akwa Ibom State Health Insurance Agency (AKSHIA) and National Health Insurance Scheme (SHIS) undertake Validation of Enrollee’s List using Traditional Rulers & Women Leaders from the various wards across the 31 Local Government Areas (LGAs).
Step 3
After proper validation has been done, AKSHIA commences digital enrollment of the beneficiaries categorized accordingly; poor, vulnerable, aged, disabled.
Step 4
Once an enrollee receives his/her AKSHIA ID Card, which takes within 30 days, accessing primary health care services begins immediately at the designated Ward Primary Health Care Centre the Enrollee chosen during enrollment / registration.
